Yakkazoo Intern - Josh Bendall

We sat down with our previous Yakkazoo Video Production Intern, Josh, to get his thoughts about how being a Yakkazoo Intern has helped him gain industry experience.

What are you studying?

I am studying a Bachelor of Media and Communications majoring in Cinema and Screen Studies. This course has allowed me to view films, animations and television. Throughout Uni, I have enjoyed being involved in the production element and was lucky enough to produce a Podcast where we debunked the myths, the misconceptions and the do’s and do not’s when it comes to buying wine! You can listen to the podcast here.

What attracted you to Yakkazoo and what were you looking to achieve?

What attracted me to Yakkazoo was the collaborative culture, workplace, and nature of the campaigns that Yakkazoo run. The opportunity to be gaining hands on experience with a creative team that has so much power and creativity in coming up with new ideas was something that really excited me.

I saw the internship as an opportunity to network, learn, engage and gain hands on experience in an industry I have always been passionate about. The Yakkazoo internship provided me with responsibility and leadership.

During your internship with Yakkazoo, you were offered a role within the organisation, would you like to tell us about that?

I was fortunate enough to be offered a role as Associate Video Producer. The role involves working with several internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and manage many aspects of a video production process from start to finish and communicating with the team each step of the way.

I am only new to the team, but a key achievement was leading the production for the New Balance 237 campaign, which was recognised in the TikTok Top Ads.

What was the most rewarding aspect of the Yakkazoo Internship?

I found everything in this internship a rewarding, valuable experience. I am fortunate enough to be working in a creative close-knit team where I was able to learn and develop valuable skills.

Being able to work with a group of like minded creative people, allowed the creative process to be a great experience. The internship with Yakkazoo has allowed me to be proactive, listen, learn and engage. I am excited to see the Internship program and Yakkazoo grow.
